Versailles orangerie

Hardouin Mansart designed and created the Orangerie at the Palais de Versaille, on the outskirts of Paris in 1684. An ambitious project, the gardens included several thousand trees and complex network of walkways. The central gallery of the orangerie measures 155 metres in length. The parterre embroidery in the Versailles Orangerie illustrates the different varieties of trees planted and is an essential attraction of the opulent palace and grounds in itself!
