Paris terrace café

Paris has over 3500 bars, cafés and restaurants in its 20 arrondissements, some more popular and fashionable than others. Some places become massively popular with the notoriously fickle Parisians in a short time than sink back into obscurity. Others, like the classic Paris terrace café remain as unnoticed yet essential fixtures of daily Paris life, discreetly serving their clientele day in, day out and offering a window on the world for the price of an expresso. To really enjoy the wide range of Paris cafés and bars, it's not a case of searching for the "best", according to the elitist criteria of the Michelin guide, or the narrow recommendations of the latest travel blog. It's more about finding the best Paris cafés to suit your mood, and lastly your budget. A great Paris eighbourhood to enjoy a drink on the terrace or on the pavement is Saint Germain-desPrés, which has some classic places that have survived the tests of time and passing fashions. Also good for a quiet drink are the places around rue Gaité in Montparnasse, a bit off the traditional Paris tourist trail.
