Pétanque in Paris

Pétanque is a form of ‘boules’, which is the name of the games played with metal balls. The goal of the game is to throw a metal ball as close as possible to the ‘cochonnet’ - a small wooden ball.
It’s a very popular game and sport in France, specially during the summer time. It is associated with southern part of the country and it is the most played sport in Marseille (the second largest city in France) – it is calculated that more than 15 million people play the Petanque in France. TherA is also a society where players can get their license – the ‘Fédération Française de Pétanque et Jeu Provençal’.
