The Paris Opera house called Opera Garnier or Palais Garnier is a majestic building with neo-baroque style located at the end of Avenue de l’Opera in Paris.

It was designed by a 35-year-old architect called Charles Garnier, who also built the Opera Garnier de Montecarlo in Monaco. The construction started in 1862 but because of several problems with the construction and incidents like the Franco-Prussian War it was not complete until 1874.

The Paris Opera building is one of the most amazing and elegant buildings of the city. Its façade is outstanding and the whole building is richly decorated with splendid columns, friezes and statues.

The interior of the opera house is beautiful and luxurious as well. It has a dazzling 6-tons chandelier and it is decorated with marble, velvet and gold.

It is said that this amazing Opera House was the inspiration for the world famous novel ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ by Gaston Leroux.
