La défense

La Défense is a very important business district in Paris, France located at the west limit of Paris' 10-km long Historical Axis, that starts at the Louvre and crosses the Champs-Élysées and the Arc de Triomphe. It is considered the largest district in Europe specifically built for business.
La Defense is an incredibly lively area – it has over 150,000 daily workers, 3.5 million square metres of office space and 210,000 square metres of shops - including the largest shopping mall in Continental Europe, the Quatre Temps Shopping Mall. La Défense district also has 20,000 residents, 1,500 businesses and more than 50 modern art sculptures and monuments. Quite impressive figures, don’t you think so?
This important district of Paris is in constant development. In 2005 the EPAD - La Defense Management and Development Office - announced an ambitious plan called ‘La Defense 2006 – 2015’, a great 9-year expansion project for the area.
